Restoring Troubled Teeth That Should Last a Liftime

When the soft core of your tooth called the pulp of the tooth is damaged or infected, it can become seriously inflamed. At Third Coast Family Dental, we can effectively restore your painful tooth with our endodontic experience in root canal treatment. We use state of the art technology to save the tooth and alleviate pain before tooth extraction becomes necessary. If you sense a tooth that is in pain or appears to be infected, it’s important to set an appointment with our team to begin restoring your smile back to its normal health and function. When you call our office our friendly team will be able to assist you in understanding our treatment process and setting up a consultation with Our Doctors.

An Effective Way to Restore Teeth

Conservative treatment is our priority at Third Coast Family Dental, so you can get the quality treatment you need before more invasive treatments are necessary. By focusing on the cause of your pain, we will use advanced dental technology and our years of experience in the field to properly assess your current dental health and determine if a root canal is right for you. This procedure is simple and popularly used to save teeth and keep them strong and intact, with minimal change in your daily lifestyle. Once a root canal has been performed, you can return to living pain-free while keeping your teeth healthy.

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment

Prevent Tooth Loss and Protect Your Health

  • Protect teeth from falling out or require extraction.
  • Reduce spread of infection or decay.
  • Reduce or eliminate inner-tooth pain
  • Restore dental health to comfortable daily functions

Before Your Root Canal Treatment

Our Doctors practice is focused around practicing careful and comprehensive treatments, using preventive methods to reduce your need for expensive or complicated procedures in the future. When you come in for a root canal treatment, our team will use x-rays to perform a detailed examination of your dental health, assessing your medical records and discussing all available treatment options. When a root canal treatment is decided, Dr. Blair can prepare you for treatment, issuing oral sedation at your request should you feel anxious or wish to be thoroughly relaxed during treatment.

Our Root Canal Process

At the beginning of treatment, a local anesthetic is applied to numb the area. A small hole is made into the tooth to extract the cause of infection and decay and shape the root canal for filling. Medicine may be applied inside the tooth to further eliminate any signs of decay and eradicate chances of infection. Removing the pulp and cleaning the area allows for the tooth to be filled with a strong rubber-like material that preserves the tooth’s inner structure and health. A temporary or permanent filling will be placed over the tooth to seal the treated area, and a permanent crown can be placed at your next appointment to fully restore your tooth back to its normal shape, feel, and function. After a crown has been placed, you will be able to bite, chew, and speak as you normally would with healthy, regular teeth. Of course, maintaining a good dental hygiene routine and six month appointments is an excellent way to ensure the protection of your teeth for years to come.
